The Millennium Development Goals Awareness Project is designed to raise awareness of the eight U.N. Millennium Development Goals on the UW-Madison campus and to connect students with relevant research, internship and volunteer opportunities in order to promote the development of job skills, foster global competency, and advance the goals locally, nationally, and internationally. The project is coordinated by International Student Services.

Millennium Development Goals and Global Health: Practical Opportunities
Student Reflections on United Nations Study Tour

The new Global Health Certificate for Undergraduates, approved on May 19, 2011, made an impressive range of global health field opportunities available to students for the first time this summer, including diverse overseas options and three in the United States. Among the latter group, a study tour to the United Nations sought to provide participants with a basic understanding of the UN, its network of special agencies and programs, and how these collaborate to fulfill UN goals, especially those related to global health. Seven students participated in early June. Following are reports and observations by the students on agencies visited and select topics.
