The Millennium Development Goals Awareness Project is designed to raise awareness of the eight U.N. Millennium Development Goals on the UW-Madison campus and to connect students with relevant research, internship and volunteer opportunities in order to promote the development of job skills, foster global competency, and advance the goals locally, nationally, and internationally. The project is coordinated by International Student Services.

WHAT ARE THE MDGs?
Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are eight international development goals that were developed out of the eight chapters of the United Nations Millennium Declaration, sighed in September 2000. 192 United Nations member states and at least 23 international organizations have agreed to achieve MDGs by the year 2015. UPCOMING MDGAP EVENTS
STUDENTS REFLECT ON UN EXPERIENCES

Under the leadership of Tina Hatch, International Student Services Advisor, eight students (shown in photo) visited the United Nations in New York over spring break, 2012. While there, they toured UN Headquarters, met with representatives of UN agencies, Ambassador Offices, and a non-governmental organization, attended a briefing on human trafficking opened by Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, and volunteered at a local Soup Kitchen. Their unique insights and experiences may be found in the reflections below.
