Temporary Host Program Coordinator

Madison Friends of International Students is seeking a volunteer coordinator for its Temporary Host Program.  This person would be one of five coordinators who would receive applications from international students seeking to have a temporary host family experience when they arrive in Madison to attend the University of Wisconsin.  After receiving the application, the coordinator makes contact with one of the volunteer hosts.  The coordinator has a list of host from which to choose.  In placing the international student with the host, contact is made with the student giving the student the name of the host and requesting the student make contact with the host.  At the same time, the application is sent to the host along with a short job description.  The coordinator may make 35 – 45 placements during a period of time from July 15th – August 29th.  Each placement takes about 30 minutes to make.  It’s a rewarding volunteer activity as the international students are so grateful at having a contact when arriving in a strange community and the host has made a new, interesting and often lasting friendship.  For more information, contact emvanderloop@gmail.com or mfis@odos.wisc.edu
