Temporary Hosting

Some Madison-area residents open their homes to international students for up to three nights when they first arrive in Madison. This is an invitation to provide welcome and friendship; there is no charge. International students have found this to be most helpful, as it provides a brief period of rest, comfort, and initial adjustments while students seek permanent housing in dormitories, apartments, and boarding homes. In addition the hosts can often answer the many questions international students always have about life in Madison and the USA.

For students planning their arrival in Madison:

1. Fill in the Temporary Hosting Application Form.
2. Email the form to MFIS. If email is not available, fax (608-262-2838) or mail it to the address shown on the form.
3. Please submit your application AT LEAST TWO WEEKS prior to your
   arrival in Madison.
4. Hosts are volunteers who agree to provide housing for up to 3 nights, free of charge.
