Furniture Program (Students)
The Furniture Program helps international students and scholars who have just arrived in Madison and need furniture. Most furniture has been donated by Madison residents and may be heavily used. There is a non-refundable one-time handling charge which ranges from $1 to $40 per item. Click here for more on How the Furniture Program Operates.
Open house sessions, where no appointment is needed, are held on the first Saturday of a month from 11:30-12:30 (except during the months of January, June, July and December).
In addition to the above dates, the furniture site will ALSO be open the last 2 Saturdays of August and the first Saturday of September from 9-12:30.In 2015 those dates are August 15, 22, and 29. Students and donors are encouraged to find their own transportation for moving the furniture, but often delivery can be arranged. The furniture are stored in a garage behind the Dale Heights Presbyterian Church at 5501 University Avenue, and are only available during open houses or with appointment. There is no sign on the street for MFIS or Furniture. One can find the garage by walking west on Norman Way for about 60 meters/200 feet just past the church.
